Sticky throttle (not too bad but not sweet)

Sticky throttle (not too bad but not sweet)
I have a 1999 CBR 600 F4.
When I open the throttle and let go, the throttle comes back to closed but takes maybe 1 second (or less). It is ok and acceptable but not sweet like the new bikes at the dealer that just snap back almost instantly.
I read some archives and they say to loosen the bar end and maybe lube the throttle cables.
I tried to loosen the bolt on the bar end but it just keeps turning so I don't know if I'm loosening it or not.
I also noted that if I turn the bars full left, the throttle comes back quicker; if I turn the bars full right, the throttle takes longer to come back.
Maybe my cables are binding somewhere?
Any advice of what I can unbolt and lube?
It looks like it has aftermarket bar ends (they are gold) and aftermarket grips.
Thanks,
Dennis

RE: Sticky throttle (not too bad but not sweet)
Assuming that you have no visual kinks or damage to your cables, then you for sure need to lube your cables. there is a ton of crap built up in them that is most likely causing your problems.
I cant remember exactly, but I think you need to hold the bar end slider itself while turning the loosening the screw. somebody check me on that, its been along time since I have messed with them since I have woodcraft clipons.
there should be a couple of screws right were the throttle cable housing is on the front, loosen those and the front half of the assembly will come off, then you can shoot lube down into the cable sleeves.

Thanks krash.
For the 600 F4, there are two phillips screws that unscrew from the bottom; there's one on the front and one on the back of the throttle area where the kill switch is located. I had to use my metal snake to unscrew them but I got the cover off to see where to squirt the lube. I don't have any cable lube right now so I put everything back.
I'll look around for something I can lube them with.
I didn't need to remove the bar end although I'll try to remove that anyway just for my own information.
Thanks again,
Dennis
