if this is a jet problem, how do you go about finding what jets are right for your bike+exhaust?

I'd try syncing your carbs first. It doesn't mean that its sluggish because you still have stock jets. I bet your carbs are unsynced causing the throttle responce to not be smooth especially in the lower RPMs. I bet it kinda hickups when you first going, sometimes you might here a little pop too.

You need some vaccum gauges and a service manual. Its really simple. The vaccum gauges are gona cost you around $50-$100 depending if its digital, if it measures 2 or 4 at a time, etc.

I bet it will help your gas milage too.

It would probably be cheaper to go to a shop and have them do it. You really don't need to do it maby a couple of times in the bikes life unless you work with a lot of bikes or put modifications on yours often. You'll most likely end up buying a new bike later down the road which will most likely be fuel injected and you'll never need the sync again. Waste of money.

It could be your jetting, but inproper jetting will have more to do with mig to high RPM perfornance then of the line. Maybe your bike just need a good tune up?
