Default Servicing

I'm about to service my bike for, as sad as it sounds, the first time this weekend. I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations as far as what to purchase. I.E oil, how much, what type, any other fluids ect. Thanks in advance.

how many miles you got?? i use spectro golden 4 10w40 i get at stealership use to use honda
i cant tell the difference 3.2qts so buy 4 qts i would also recomend buy a clymers book for
your bike it helps out alot also honda oil filter also you may want to check plugs if you
havent done so i use ngk other than not knowing how many miles you have that would be
it check your service manual to see what you should be checking and definitely get the clymers
book to help good luck!!!

I bought the K&N oil filter because it had the "nut" on it to make the oil changes easier. Not sure it is worth the extra money or not but something to think about.

How many miles are on it? It may be prudent to check the coolant and plugs as well.

the type of oil "viscosity" also depends on the climate ur in (cold or warm), for warm or hot climate use the following chart typical 10w-40

also check ur coolant level and inspect for any leeks around the radiator or hoses. Air filter is important depending on ur miles or age of the bike but it can be tricky to get to on the very first time . Dont forget to clean & lube ur chain, run a search there was a recent thread on the diff types people withing the forum have experimented with. Run a search for the service manual PDF withing the forum its a huge file but tells u everthing u need to know...laters

Thanks for the help. The bike has 18,344 miles (bought it used). Runs fine just wanted to change the oil.
