Default Road Trip

Hey everyone, I've been reading this forum for awhile but havent joined because I had no input or questions. Well now I have a question. I'm planning on doing a road trip in a month or two and need to get my f4 ready. We'll probably be doing like a 5-7 day trip. I've gone on 3-4 hour rides and it hasnt been too bad, but I'll definatly had to get in shape for the haul. So I'm thinkin with a few small mods I should be able to add a bit more comfort, and maybe some touring tires. Does anyone have any suggestion on luggage, or mods I can do to make it a little more comfortable. I was thinking about raising the handle bars some. Thanks for the help.

Dependant on the weather of where you're going heated handle bar grips might be one to consider, sure you might not need them if it's sunny, but if weather gets real ****ty they're always nice to help you keep going. I do a lot of distance miles and ride through all weathers and I'd recommend a set for when the weather gets bad. It's always nice to have the option there. As for luggage I use a tank bag a lot and a knox bag. I've also used sports panniers (the fabric throw over type ones) in the past and they're not a problem, though if you ride in bad weather expect to get a lot of crap off the road on the underside of them. Also remember to use the correct riding technique of supporting your body weight with your abdominal muscles rather than leaning on your hands cos otherwise your wrists'll get sore and won't be much fun.

I would invest in a Throttle Boss... it straps on to your grip so you can use your palm instead of fingers to give gas. When you're done, you can unstrap it in about 20 seconds. I got mine for $10 shipped on Ebay -- worth every penny.
