long story short, when I got my bike one of the carburetors was badly varnished. I got the bike running again but it doesn't run perfect. I disassembled the carbs again and found some junk everywhere that was easily wiped out, but I discovered the 3 holes in the throat of the carb that are controlled by the idle mixture screws seem to be clogged. i dont like the idea of putting anything in the holes to try and unplug them because I don't want to deform them. I noticed underneath is a brass plug that is staked in place from the factory, but its how they drill the holes during the manufacturing process. has anyone ever removed these plugs to clean that passage?
Those bleed holes in venturi can be reach from passages on other side you've removed jets from. One of them being the external hole for pilot-screw. Scrub all passages in carb-body with brushes and PEA-based fuel-system cleaner
Bend soft copper-wire 90-degrees 10mm from end and poke out bleed-holes from venturi back towards flow-bowl.
You'll also want to ultrasonic soak everything and micro soda-blast.
i let these carbs soak in an ultrasonic for about 8 hours and it started to burn the finish off the carbs. im really against poking anything in the holes because it risks deformation/damage to the holes. instead, i was able to find an all plastic syringe at work and pressurized the circuit with acetone and was able to blow the blockage free from the holes.
