Is it a Rectifier problem??
I have a 2000 F4...I just did the tail swap to a 2001 tail. In doing so, I had to move all the small electrical parts to under the new seats. So I took it out for a nice ride and after about 25 minutes, i come to a stop sign. When I stopped, it died. No power whatsoever to the battery. Upon testing, the battery was completely dead (it was fully charged prior to the ride). Last night I recharged my battery and tried to pinpoint exactly what was wrong. I found that the 30 amp fuse was blown in the starter. I unplugged all the electrical stuff and then replaced the fuse. I hooked everything back up one by one except for the rectifier, and it all seemed to work perfectly fine..i was even able to start it and everything ran fine...so I'm guessing my rectifier is bad. Does anyone know if this is correct? Also..does the rectifier have to be mounted directly to the frame for grounding/heat dispersment reasons? After the tail swap, i just secured it to the plastic undertray, so I'm thinking that could be part of the problem. Any help would be great. Thanks!
