Default hot rectifier problem

i have a 95 f3 and whenever i ride the right side of the seat gets really hot. i noticed that the only hot area of the frame was the rectifier and the grounding mount that the rectifier sits on.i popped the clip that mounts to the rectifier off and the top right 'tooth' (yellow 3 in the claymer repair guide) was burnt and had corrosion all over it and looked as if it had been sparking. i was just wondering if the rectifier is blown or if it is always supposed to be warm.

The regulators get hot. But not as hot as you're describing. Heat can also be generated by poor connections. Do a search on Regulator / Rectifier in this forum. There's lots of information on troubleshooting as well as replacing it with one from another manufacturer's R/R which has better heat sinks for cooling.
