Default Question on low beam vs. high beam..

OK.. this is an odd question... but here goes anyway..

Since it is dark when I leave the house for work, I have been actually using my headlight to see..... tonight I went on a night ride with a buddy... I have only done maybe 2 or 3 night rides this season... so paying attention to the headlight's light never really was a major issue...

But here goes.. it feels like when my headlight is on the 'low beam' setting, the light is more concentrated in teh center and the beam illuminates further away from the front of my bike, while the 'high beam' setting is a broader, wider beam that illuminates closer to teh front of my bike...

Now on a car the opposite is true.. the low beam should be wider and closer, while the high beam is further away...

I know that our F4s use a dual filament bulb (H4 I think).. and I can see that both filaments are lighting on their respecting beam settings.. but is this right?

I grabbed the camera to show you what they both look like.. is this correct? Did someone switch or screw up the high and low beam wiring to the harness plug? I might have to take my upper off and check out the wiring..

anyway...

This is the low beam setting..

This is the high beam setting.. note the blue 'high beam indicator' lit up...

What do you think? Are these right?

Thanks

Don't know if its right but mine does like that also. High beam seems useless I see further and better with the low beam

If it seems useless, then adjust the headlight. My hi beam was too high a year ago, then i adjusted it. Now it's where it should be; I can see further with the high, and the low is positioned just right. There are two spring loaded bolts for adjustment on the backside of the light housing. One bolt adjusts vertical, and the other bolt adjusts horizontal positioning. Have you or anyone else put a new bulb in the bike? If it's possible, maybe the bulb is upside down or something.

When I get time I will pull the bulb connector and bulb to be sure that it is in correctly and plugged in correctly... just thought it was weird I guess... only 15 more miles and I hit my target mileage for this year.. then more than the likely I'll be done as it is getting cold out there! Then I will do some wrenchin...
