Default Problem with my seat!

so the prong nearest to the tank on my seat is supposed to go under the retainer on the frame but i can't get it to go under the retainer... everything else slides right into place, but i cannot get the prong to go under the retainer so it just sits on top of it... anyone ever had this problem? know any solutions?

Before I did the tail conversion on mine, I bought a seat with a 2nd look cover on it and it was harder to put on than the stock one. I think the new seat cover being put on changed the shape of the seat some, had to press down pretty hard just behind that hook in the front. Is the seat warped at all or the tank bracket bent? You could shim that bracket up some until it fits right maybe?

Default Seat problem.

I had a similar problem with my F4. It seems the prior owner rode it with the plastic tab on top of the bracket and warped its shape. I just added a couple washers under the bracket bolts to raise it up a bit to accept the plastic seat tab.

i'm pretty sure the PO rode with the prong ontop of the retainer and so it's probably warped and more angled upward towards the seat itself than usual...

yesterday i took a screw driver and poked it down under the retainer and parked it overnight...so hopefully the fact that it's been held under the retainer for a while will put it back to it's normal position...though i doubt it.

i may try putting the washes under the bracket bolts as vforce has said =D either that...or cut the front of the prong in an angle downward so that it's easier for it to get under the retainer. as in in stead of like a [ ] shape... i'd have it as a /] shape =D

so after pushing the prong down under the retainer for a weekend, it has gotten much easier to put it in correctly without the screw driver. Once it bends somewhat back into it's usual position it's fine. I still have to go slowly and push it down slightly with my finger to make sure it goes underneath the retainer... but it works and i don't have to carry around a screw driver haha
so if anyone else has this problem i'd suggest that you use the screw driver to get it underneath it... then leave the seat on the bike for a few days to let the prong return to normal and then after that just using your fingers should be adequate =D
