Thank you for all your help, haha this thread now definitely seems like a PM. (hope that's ok)
anyway this is the R/R i purchased
http://www.regulatorrectifier.com/ca...ator-Rectifier
read a few reviews here and also talked to their tech.
now when I said the R/R swap made the bike run better, it in indeed fix the hot-stall issue. but i did not measure the voltage directly (i can try doing that when i get my bike back from my office).
During the week (and the trip) i noticed a rotten egg odor (now i know what it is....) so it might be an issue overlooked.
the R/R plug looks clean, stator working (at least putting out charge)
I actually left my bike at a mall and went back for it last night. dropped in the old (actually a Yausa) battery, and the stock R/R.
I am not sure if i am being paranoid but i thought i still smelled something last night (also my butt was quite warm). the bike made a more throaty noise and misses while slow (this issue did not occur with the new battery....that was cooked). so the old battery really maybe on its last limb (say if it was bad already and it boiled with the new R/R, it would have even less charge)
I was so exhausted last night, but manage to drive it to the office (60 miles from home) so at least its a tad closer.
Thanks a bunch again gotcbr, you've been a great help.
honestly nothing beats riding with a crew and having fun for the weekend. but hopefully I can get back on the road sooner (without burning my butt and my bike dying on me)
