Pilot screws
Hi guys,
Im working on my bike, and I would like to know if anybody could suggest me which tool to use while adjusting mix/pilot screw having the carbs on.
Is quite hard to put my hand inside with a little screwdiver (it got screws)
Before setting the carbs, and after cleaning them (jets, etc) I have counted the turns of the screws and while puting them back, I have used the same configuration ( three turns), but now while running the bike, idle is not smooth, and I think that adjusting the pilot screws would help.
On the other hand, do you think that idle going up and down, having pilot jets perfectly clean, and carbs synced, is about pilot screws or could be some aire leaking somewhere?
Was hard to sync carbs with idle moving and with a home made vacuum gauge, but when it stays smooth I got same butterfly opening. Problem is when it starts moving, so I thought on pilot screws.

My guess is a vacuum leak. If you are set for the same mixture and you are fairly well sync'd, it should idle fine, barring a vacuum leak (usually the boot-to-carb joint). With the bike running, spray some carb cleaner on the joints. If the rpms spike, you know you got a leak.
I will try to find that part, but is quite difficult now in this country; my country. They have stopped imports and everything imported is so expensive.
e.g a Cbr blank key that in US you can find for usd 10, here it costs usd 60!! and for some items, maybe you need to wait for 40 days to arrive!!
Sorry about this, but Im quite pissed off!
You know how much a Honda CBR 1999 , yes 1999. 14 years old bike costs?? 10000 us dollars!!
