I had the same problem....bought a thermostat but never put it in...brought it to the shop instead. All they did was re-wire the fan or something and the problem was fixed, it was a cheap fix. The fan also was working fine (or so I thought) when I brought it in so I have no idea what the problem really was. Wish I could be of more help.

My bike would always overheat as soon as it was in traffic, now I am good to go; sure is a relief to have it fixed for this season.

The problem is your fan. It doesn't matter what the thermostat is set to or even if it exists in traffic. If it doesn't work you will overheat.

You could wire it to a switch but for the life of me I don't understand why you would do that. It's a very simple circuit and is easy to troubleshoot and get to work correctly which is the best thing for the bike.

I'd start with making sure the fan spins freely (you can get your hand in there, even with plastics on) and the 10a fuse.

Fix it the right way man. These are the only things that could be wrong with your fan, ordered from most likely on down.

1) Blown Fuse (Reason for that may vary)
2) Fan switch
3) Wiring / Grounding
4) Fan Motor

Well the reason it over heats at low speeds is because there's no wind cooling it off. As far as a fix for the problem, i'm sorry i dunno
