My Baby is missing at 6000 rpm
Right around 6k rpm my 2000 CBR600f4 starts running like it is missing a cylinder. This only happens when the bike has been restarted warm. When the bike is cold it runs great. Anybody got some ideas?
Thanks in advance

I could be a loose sparkplug?? How many miles are on it?? if the valves are WAY out of adjustment it is a possibility...since you stated it does it after it is warm and metal expands when it warm...how is the battery??? It also could be electrical ( low battery ) or a short causing the cylinder to cut out...these are just a few suggestions but I reccommend taking it to a shop
After further review: It seems miss after making a corner and accelerating out, which is a bit disturbing. It's got 7k miles on it and a Two Brothers slip on on it. Could it be that the oil is sloshing to one side and triggering a low oil sensor? I heard that wheelies can deprive this engine of oil, I'm not doing any of those, but perhaps a similar problem is occuring. Or maybe fuel starvation? Tank is almost full though. Full blown oil change on tap this weekend anyway. And I'll take a look at the plugs.
Thanks,
Kurt
P.S. Battery Checks out solid. Charging well and output voltage good.

How steep a lean angle before it starts goofing and how long until it clears up? Your bike has a tip over sensor that could be misadjusted. Normally a bike has to damn near be on the ground for the tip sensor to cut power but occasionally they cut power too soon. I'd only check into this if the missing clears up once you get it straight up again.
might want to check the plugs for any misfoul on the end, and run a fuel system/carb cleaner through it, i would say if it's not the tip sensor, look to the fuel system/carb for that cylinder
loose spark plug? bank angle? low oil? Dirty carbs? Jeesh...
A loose spark plug would give you big problems all through the rev range.
Bank angle would cut out completly.
Low oil, won't make it skip. Lockup, not skip.
Dirty carbs would give you weird probs, usually at higher rpm.
Carb cleaners can leave a varnish, scrwing up the needles/floats etc.
I'd start with the simple stuff... I see you have a slip-on.
Do you have a K&N filter by chance? if so, put the stock
filter back in, she'll work way better.
Here is my experiance:
Stock = good
Stock + Pipe = better
Stock + K&N = good
Stock + Pipe + K&N = CRAP
Stock + Pipe + K&N + Jetkit = Awesome

Well, I found out what the prob. was. While out of town my roomate rode my bike (I let him). He checked the oil with the bike on the sidestand and thought there was none. Added 1- 1 1/2 qt. I got home, rode a couple of times and discovered the prob. While I was stripping off the fairings to check out your suggestions I decided to do an oil change, it was getting close to needing one soon anyway. Well, I drained about 1 3/4 gal of oil out.......before I pulled the filter. Put in proper amount, new filter........voila! No more issues. Pretty damn lucky that head gasket etc wasn't trashed I guess.
Thanks for the help everyone.
