Actually, you can hook the two wire up to the running light lead and ground and then you still have running lights and when you put the indicator on, it becomes a signal. I found this by mistake when hooking mine up for the front. I switched it out, but if you want to keep runing lights, it's easy to do. Fast or normal rate ... it's up to you. I like the normal rate so I put an electronic flasher in for about $20 from customled.com Plug and play unit works perfectly. You could use resistors too if you want (available for about $0.25 each from any electronic supply house.

I agree if you want running lights you can buy diodes from radio shack. I believe the 0.55 will work. You just put them in each. That way you wont be burning up your harness.
