I had a similar noise and figured it was the cct. I talked to my local mechanic and he said the cct is hydraulically controlled and before I replace it I should change the oil. Then if i need a new cct at least it won't be ruined right away by bad oil. Anyways, changed the oil and the sound went away. I will probably have to replace the cct sometime soon anyways, but this was way cheaper for now.

Okay polish thanks for the help. I have a hose hanging down next to the shock and another hose that looks like a t valve that may be the fuel pump hose. The hose is long actually it can reach to the the ride side of the bike.
Okay thanks logical. The oil was just changed i belive since the previous owner took it in to get the carb clean up for me. How do we check the oil for our f4's? I see a oil cap but i twisted it off and there was no dipstick idk if there is suppose to be one. I will probaly get the cct changed out anyways on the next oil change. Thanks for all the help.

To check your oil there is a sight glass on the right side of the bike. In order to get a proper read the bike has to be vertical instead of leaning on the kick stand. When I changed my oil I flushed it by changing it once then letting it run for about 10 minutes and then changing it immediately again to ensure all impurities were removed for peace of mind. Since the tensioner is hydraulic the oil needs the proper viscosity in order for it to function properly so it has more to do with purity than simply checking the oil level in the sight glass.
However, I am certainly not a pro I'm just letting you know what happened with my noise when i changed the oil. BTW i used 10w40 castrol 4 stroke motorcycle oil.
