That does look like a good site. I have an another option for you. I've been recommending Vintage Connections for years...OEM-Type Bullet & Spade Electrical Connectors for 1960's through 1970's Japanese Vehicles... Bridgestone, Datsun, Hodaka, Honda, Kawasaki, Landcruiser, Suzuki, Tohatsu, VW, & Yamaha. They've always been willing to help & had the connections needed in stock.

After thinking about it for a while, I decided to just use simple crimp on bullet style connectors and heat shrink over them. I only have 6 wires in total to connect.

Made some more progress today. Got the DOT turn signals and front amber reflectors mounted. I still need to wire up the signals. I also bled the brakes and made my passenger hand hold. The old brake fluid had a slight brown tint to it. I'd say you could compare it to the color of budweiser when it should be closer to bud light. Tomorrow or Sunday, I will connect up the signals and test them out, remove the wind screen, and secure the wiring up under the headlight(they actually faulted me for hanging wires). Pics below.

That's one heavy duty lookin' chain guard.

Good job on the strap.

BTW, just noticed that your forks are missing their plastic fork pipe protectors. These mount at the top of the lower case. They slide on & snap into position. They protect the forks seals (dust seal at top) from debris & weather. So, your forks have been off the bike at some point b/c those are gone. I hope they did whatever they did, properly. ;-) More than likely they replaced the seals. Anyway, those protectors very easy to install but you'll need to have your forks off to do it. That's not dif either, just time consuming & you'll need both a rear stand & a front fork stand that lifts by the lower triple.

I kinda like the chain guard. It says CBR on it too. I haven't seen my bike without it but I'm not in a hurry to remove it. And the strap is so gaudy and out of place that it is kinda funny to me.

Thanks for the tip about the dust seal protectors! Is it part 15 in this diagram? Protector, Fork Pipe PN 51460-MT3-611? I should go ahead and order them so I can have them ready when I drop the bike off at the shop for them to change my stem bearings. Front and rear bike stands are expensive and it would be the same price of having the shop replace the bearings. This should be all of the major repair work I need so I don't mind paying a lot this one time.

So I had to make a few repairs to the turn signal/headlight wiring harness but the signals are in and operational. The headlight bulb comes in today so that should also be completed today. I'm hoping to be done with everything by this weekend!

BTW I submitted a wanted ad in the wanted section of the classifieds looking for the piece of the battery tray that everyone cuts off. If anyone reading this has one please let me know ASAP.

Thanks

^ Yes, part 15.

I really hate to see you pay for having the shop just snap these on. Of course, you need to have the forks off to do it but its not difficult. Just follow the factory service manual step by step. Of course, if you're not comfortable doing it at this point, that's understood. Put it this way, you really shouldn't have to pay *anything* for them to snap these on.

Yes, I saw your classified... Commented over there. I'll say again here too for benefit of the casual reader... The DMV is being too picky about your tail. You need to get a supervisor involved. All you should be able to do is bolt up your lic plate & lic plate light & that's it.

Oh I wouldn't pay them just for these two snap on pieces but they will already have the forks off (I think) when I get them to replace my stem bearings. I'll probably never go there again if they try to charge me specifically for these two guys.

I may have better luck going to another inspector and straight up asking if it will pass w/o the fender before I fork over the money. Apparently the gas station inspectors are more lenient than bike shop inspectors.

Turns out that the front brake wasn't lighting the brake lights up because of a common ground wire for the left turn signal was severed. Fixing that killed two birds with one stone and I didn't even have to get a multimeter.

Completed
  1. Front Brakes have low and slightly colored fluid - needs flushing with new fluid
  2. Front Brakes do not light up brake lights
  3. Front Turn signals are not DOT approved (flush mounts)
  4. Passenger Hand hold not present

In Progress
  1. No Tag light (b/c no fender) have lights, waiting to wire them in
  2. No side reflectors front or rear (rear b/c no fender, fronts removed) fronts are on, waiting on fender to put on rears
  3. Head Light not DOT approved (HID kit) removed HID system, oem wiring looks to be intact, halogen H4 bulb arrives tomorrow.

Yet to be started
  1. Steering Stem Bearing is worn and needs replacing (bearings arrive tomorrow)
  2. Rear fender has been removed (talking with mechanic, may just find a different inspector
  3. Wind Screen not DOT approved

Hadn't gotten anything approved. In fact, I decided to just go ahead and make one. I bought a piece of sheet metal, rivets, and shears and this is what I came up with. The pictures just show the mock up with the turn signals in place but it will be coated in black auto undercoating. It is drying right now. The snug fit plus the two turn signals are holding it on. The bottom edge is folded and riveted to add strength.

I also took the front faring off to remove the windscreen and to tidy up the wires. In the process of this, the brake switch no longer lights the brake lights again. It must be something with the wiring. Unfortunately, my multimeter is in the mail and will take some time to get here. New halogen H4 bulb was also installed.

After. The major part was securing the connector bundle on the right side.
