Hey guys.. I know the book says 5k but how often do you all change the oil in your bikes? I had an old '90 kat with almost 40k on it and changed it every 1k since it cooled the bike too. I'm planning on changing it at 3k with this bike but wanted to get advice from everyone else. Also I'm using Honda 10w40, what does everyone else run??

I oil change 3K to 4K depends on how you run the bike if you run the bike hard with alot of wheelies i would go for 3 if you use it for just a comuter or a east ride you can get 4 to 5
I would use amsoil it is a very goodoilif your bike runs hot go with a thicker oil, thinner oil lets your clutch grab easier but does not stand up tothe heat as wellgood luck

I normally change mine every 2-4k miles, or every 3 months. I use Mobil 1 10w40

 

every 3000 here and when it come to oil I change it with the season lighter weight in the cooler months heavier weight in the summer months
