Default high revs when first start bike?

Hey everyone, this is my first post
Ive recently bought a Honda CBR600F Sport 2001
This is my first bike so this could be a stupid question
When i first start my bike, the revs hang around the 2k mark?
after a minute or 2 they drop down to the 1k mark, is it suppose to do this?
shouldnt the revs be 0?

No - definately not zero, that would be off

1000rpm is a bit low - an F4 is supposed to idle ~1300-1800 rpm.

When I start my f4 with the choke on it idles about 3000 - I notch the choke down to maintain a 2000 rpm idle until I have the choke fully off and am back at a steady warm idle of about 1700 rpm.

Once mine is warm it idels about 1000-1300 rpm....I think 1700 seems a little high

When my choke is on it will be about 2-3k rpm.

If it starts high its ok....but it should go down after a second or two. At normal temp it should be around 1,300 plus or minus 100

I used to let my bike idle at 0 but the throttle response was horrible... I adjusted it to 1250 and its now very smooth [sm=joke.gif]

Congrats on the new wheels.
