If anyone happens to have their carbs in pieces could you do me a favour please.

I need to know what size the two holes are in the bottom of the slide - the ones each side of the needle.

Many Thanks in advance.

Default It's FIXED

OK - final update for anyone interested.

Carbs totally stripped, cleaned with carb cleaner and blown dry with filtered compressed air.

Main jets changed to the book spec of #130 (1.3mm) in outer carbs and #132 (1.32mm) in inner carbs

Idle jets checked and confirmed as #40 (0.40mm) all across the carbs

Pilot screws set to 2 & 3/4 turns out from seated.

PAIR valves deleted and Direct Air system junked. ( all open pipes connected back to the airbox )

New Irridium plugs ( CR9EHIX-9 ) fitted

Brand new Fuel filter

brand new Air filter.

Full carb balance with morgan carbtune.

What a difference is all I can say. Starts first go on full choke & settles to a 2k idle.

Once warmed up the throttle is crisp and snappy. Rock steady idle at 1200rpm.

Out on the road the bike is transformed, pulls clean and strong from 2k all the way through to 13k at any thottle setting.

Sweet!!! Glad to hear you got it running nice and smooth. If you don't mind me asking, how dirty were your carbs and can you take a photo of the pair valves removed and how you removed the DAI system and how you hooked the hoses back up? I've done the same stuff you have but I like to compare. Thanks

Don't have photos but from seeing your input to the cali mod thread we have gone the same route.

Remove pair valve pipework and valve with vac pipe - use long vac pipe to replace the one near the carb to eliminate the "T" joint.
Use a piece of the large tube that ran from the air box to the pair vac valve and run it between the reed valves on the head.
Use an old pipe stop and a little silicone sealer to block the rear hole in the airbox where the pair pipe was fitted.

DAI - junk everything and unplug the electrics. Re pipe the carb vent tubes back to the airbox.

Carbs looked fairly clean but the jets all needed cleaning out with the relevant size drill and some of the ports were filthy - float bowl condition is no indication of overall carb cleanliness.
