Default Heat makes my bike want to DIE.

Ok so i ride my 99 CBR F4 almost year round and the only season it has a problem with is summer. When it gets hot out (like 87+) it takes about a twenty minute ride to get my bike to the point that it wants to die at idle. Once the bike warms up like this it will just stutter at idle and usually cut out after struggling for a while. As long as I'm moving or giving at a little gas when it tries to die, it seems to do fine. The bikes temperature it self is fine, usually reading right in the middle of the gauge. The only thing I've heard that it could be, is the fuel pump, like when it heats up it starts to fail. Any Ideas would be appreciated.

You might want to check out the fuel pump transfer relay. Its possible that it could be getting hot and shutting off. Just a thought, you can get it checked out.

I have the same problem you are dealing with. I did have a bad fuel pump replaced it and it was still dying and idle when hot. I'm pretty sure it is too lean. I've got it in a shop right now having it fixed he thinks the carb's need adjusted. Will let you know when I get it back.

You might have multiple problems also. Sometimes it's not just one thing and that is really enough to **** a guy off. I wouldn't worry about the relay right now, that would most likely affect the bike at all times and would more or less just completely shut off. I would put money on the fuel pump. They're only about $90 from honda and easy to put in. But you might have carb problems also, who knows? Without the right tools (fuel pressure tester) it's hard to say for sure. Have to start some where though.

The same thing was happening to mine, but it was(is) a much stupider problem and in fact a design flaw. Basically what happens is when it gets too hot and the fan kicks in it would drain the battery faster than the battery was being charged, this only happened when stuck in traffic for a long time at idle.

The way I fixed this, or at least made it better was whenI was changing the stator and R/R I got uprated aftermarket parts and I also changed all the bulbs/blinkers to LEDs.
