Default H.I.D's question??

hey guys!! does anyone have H.I.D's installed in there F4?? I have 99 F4 and I bought these HID's on Ebay they are for a car but they say they work on motorcycles..

So I have a kit of HID's 8000k H4 Bulb (Ice Burg Blue) ballast its a 35WAT kit I installed it good and it doesn't seem to want to work its just flickers on and off then shuts off! I already had them sent back and tested they said there were good and took pic of proof... I don't know wat to do??

the switch doesnt power your lights.. matter of fact since bike headlights are on whenever the ignition is on.. there really isnt a switch other than the high beam switch.. make sure that is on "low" since your HID kit is more than likely a low beam only kit without the high low feature.. try putting the low beams on and test again..

otherwise you need to supply 12v ignition on power to the HID controller..

IMO.. not worth it on a bike for anything but looks.... unless you do the high/low kit...

good luck

hey Adam,

Yeah the HID kit is a low beam and I have tried testing on that many times..
You said I may need to supply 12v ignition on power to the HID controller?? how would I do that??

Well the controller should get 12v power from the battery or a constant circuit that can handle the draw... much like a relay, it needs a switched on power to turn the controller on, but that small circuit doesn't handle the power... with a car its easy because you splice the headlight switch.. but since the bikes are lights on when ignition on you need an ignition on power.. like the taillights, running lights circuit.. maybe the license plate light.. you could tap into that, run a fuse inline just in case (maybe slightly lower amperage than whatever that circuit it fused to just in case) and then see how it goes.

Maybe try to search for forums.. I'm sure it must have been discussed..

Like I said.. I have never done an HID kit on a bike.. but I have done a few on cars...

Good luck!
Adam

If you bought the kit, its self explanitory.... I bought a kit for my 2000 F4 w/ a 6k bulb...installed no issues.

Follow the wiring, one of the plugs coming off the ballast goes to the OEM power source to the light, the other two go to the HID bulb itself...then you insert the bulb like normal, secure it, and turn it on...

Mine flickers a bit till it warms up, if your bike isn't warmed up then it might be having a tough time drawing power to the HID ballast.

i bought a kit from lite-eyez. i bought the mini lowbeam only hid for 70bucks...got the 50w one too. maybe you need a new battery?

are your highbeams hid? if not turn the highbeams on, start the bike, let the bike idle up to normal operatin temp, then turn the hid on....
