Default Fuel level sensor installation

I'm wishing I had a fuel level gauge on my f4. How would I have to install one? It seems like they're mostly electronic sticks that come up from the bottom of your can and measure the fuel level. If that's the case I'd have to do some cutting to get it fitted, huh. Probably not that hard, maybe I could kind of pop out the low-level sensor and fit a level sensor in that hole, possibly even using the same leads to connect to my new gauge.

Any thoughts? Is there an old-fashioned type that would be easier to install?

well I know that it measure the ohms resistance and the F4i's fuel level sensor is connected to the fuel pump and that is installed inside the tank so it wont work. but I don't know if there is another drop in sensor. If you do figure something out let us now.

There are sensors that measure resistance that can be mounted from the top, but I'd rather just modify the hole that the reserve sensor goes into if possible. I think they're standalone, I'll see if I can make it happen.

I'm planning on reworking my gauge cluster and getting some extra sensors here and there.

Anyone ever taken off the oil pressure switch assy? I'm wondering if I can fit one of these. Does anyone know if the stock pressure switch will automatically shut off the engine if it senses a problem? I don't want to fit an aftermarket device and have my bike think there's a problem and not start.. I guess I could probably just loop off a circuit somewhere or something. Anyway, just wondering if that part looks like it would go where the stock sensor goes.
