just keep in mind though that if you do alot of highway driving, or long distances at high speeds, the -1/+2 will raise your cruising rpms by quite a bit. so far i have decided i like mine set up with -1 in the front and keeping the rear the stock size. gives a little extra pull, but the cruising rpms on the highway arent outrageously high. i tried -1/+1, but i didnt notice any extra pull, and the rpms were slightly higher. so i went back to -1/0.

-1/+2 is the popular mod for quicker acceleration. You will notice a difference. In 'real terms' see Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator. Keep in mind that your odo/speedo will be off unless you install a speedo-healer.

Go w/ steel sprockets & OEM size 525 chain. You'll get more mileage/wear out of steel sprockets & 525 chain.

I recommend RK or D.I.D chains. Both are factory Honda OEM suppliers. You can still use a 108 link chain.
Quick one guys, don't understand this... in the UK my F4 is an FX 1999... and all the sites seem to think that I have 44 teeth on the rear... yet, we're saying OEM is 45 on the F4...

I wonder if we differ in the UK to the states?

I'm considering ordering one of these Supersprox Stealth Sprockets... nice reviews and look gorgeous... BUT as most fo the others are, they show this as having 44 teeth,...?

Any ideas? Or do I ignore the filter and go with this one for the 2001 models onwards? Will it fit?

Also, as for the chain, would this be fine in a 108 link config? and this for the front sprocket?

Yep, OEM F4 sprocket sizes are 16/45. Not aware of it being dif for UK models.

^ Both of those pics are of the same sprocket...which appears to be for an F4i, due to 6 bolt pattern.

You need the sprocket w/ the bolt pattern for the F4. Here's a pic I took comparing the F4i sprocket on the LEFT vs the F4 sprocket on the RIGHT. The F4i sprocket = 6-bolt. The F4 sprocket = 5 bolt.

Not sure what that front sprocket is. You def want the 525 for both front & rear & for the *F4* application.

Hi all
Just so you're all aware and to share the knowledge, the 1999/2000 F4's in the UK were fitted with a 16/44 sprocket combo, the US was 16/45... I've double checked and the Haynes manual confirms this. Also explains why all standard sprockets in UK were 44 on rear. So, ordered my bits, Renthal front sprocket, Renthal gold chain in 108 links and stealth gold and black rear sprocket all in 525 pitch.. All in £160 delivered. Will take some before and after piccies. Decided to .stay with standard teeth for now... Saves messing with the Speedo calibration... At the moment haven't got the time to mess about.

Interesting. Still would have gone w/ the 45. ;-)

Did you verify the bolt pattern on the sprockets you ordered?

Yeah I did, good spot :-) Should be with me tomorrow me thinks... then it's "get hands dirty time".

Yeah was tempted with the 45, but they're special order items in the UK for the 45 stealth one... and couldn't be arsed waiting... it'll do me... bikes not exactly slow now lol.
