F4 fuel issues
Hey y’all I’m looking for ideas on what the problem could be with my bike. I was having fuel issues so I ordered a new oem fuel pump I hooked it up and everything was great I could feel the pump working at idle, I went for a ride and it died. I brought it home and realized when I wiggle the plug for the fuel pump around it would kick on and off so I rewired the pump and once again it ran great and pumped at idle so I took it for a ride and the pump stopped working again so I brought it back home and ran a jumper wire to manually turn the fuel pump on and it worked fine. I pulled everything I had just wired apart to find everything correct and tight so I put everything back together again started the bike and again the pump worked at idle so I took it out again and immediately again the pump stopped working. Any and all help is appreciated because I’m about to push it off a cliff 😂
You’ve found one loose connector and you now seem to be fixated on that being the problem - you’ve fixed that, now move on and find the next problem.
From your description it’s either another loose connector or a wire has broken internally. Some models use a pulsed feed to the pump which won’t show up on a meter so use a multimeter to check for zero ohms throughout the relevant circuit whilst waggling the wires (even a small resistance can drop the voltage enough to stop the pump).

So after removing the “ solenoid valve relay” as the manual calls it the pump kick on at idle and pumps as it should with “pulses” to keep the carbs full….i then put the bike on a stand and got it above 20mph and the pump works continuously as it should. I repeated this process 10x times and everything worked correctly as it should. I suspect it is or was a little bit of corrosion on one of the prong connectors on the relay and pulling it apart and reconnecting it may have corrected the issue although I find that unlikely it seems to be working correctly
