Do you use clutch or sometime just quick shift thru gears instead?

Power shifting is when you stay on the throttle and shift without letting off. VERY bad idea on a bike. Drag racing a car sure but it does hurt the tranny. My friends mustang ripped off every tooth on 3rd gear in his old tranny drag racing it.
No manual transmission is shifted without momentarily letting off throttle to ease pressure on gears. Race cars and bikes use ignition interruption to achieve this without letting off throttle. Trying to shift under throttle without ignition control = broken gears like you had. Power shiftin with clutch causes gears to engage at full throttle. Lots of stress and damage.

Power shifting and clutchless shifting are very different, not sure where you learned that they are the same but my family has been racing for generations. Now I don't disagree with you about how its bad and how you should use an ignition retarder. But you can shift your bike without coming off the throttle, after awhile you'll brake your bike. Just disagree about them being the same thing.

Occasionally I'll clutchless shift, like If I pull out into traffic in a hurry or if
I'm cruising along and feeling lazy but 99% of the time I use the clutch.

Once my clutch cable broke and I had to clutchless shift to get home,
so I'm glad I knew how to do it that day but timing all the green lights was
tricky lol.

Clutchless shifting is perfectly safe, do it all the time.

No you don't. But if you walk up to someone who rides in the canyons, does track days or races for a club or anyone. If you tell them that they are the same, they will laugh in your face. They may both have the same result but are two different methods of getting there and should not be lumped together. Just like trail braking and feathering the brake close but when truly looked at and examined two totally different things. I apologise pug for taking over your post. Just know that they are two separate things in action and if your going to do either do clutchless, where you induce the change of gear through a blip in the throttle not shear pressure on the lever.

So it's clutchless.
Power shifting is a particular type of clutchless shifting, just like a square is a special type of rectangle.

Power Shifting is not the same as Clutchless Shifting and a Square is not the same as a Rectangle.

No problem fella, nice to see some discussion and at least it's clarified a few things...

that plonker who keeps saying theres no neutral between 2 and 6 is a dick head, he ovoisley never road a sports bike.
many a time at speed the shift will float between the gears and not engage and at speed on a corner this is pretty dodgy. i suggest you learn to ride a super bike before u start posting rubbish.

This is true, they do float and a quick rev will usually slip it into gear but.... You could of gotten your point across without the insults.

Welcome to CBRf btw
