Hi,
Has anyone had to replace their clutch cable on their 99-00 F4? I bought my bike used and it appears to have the wrong clutch cable on it, because when I turn the handlebars al the way to the left, the cable gets pulled really tight against the ignition. any comments?

Thanks for the reply,
Actually, this is the third cable I've tried and I'm having the same problem. I replaced the one that came with the bike because the clutch was slipping(I ended up having to replace the clutch because it was worn out), so the cable I ordered was a parts unlimited one for a 2000 F4 (thats what I asked theshop to order for me) and it was even shorter than the one I had on there in the first place, so recently I was looking at the F4i and the clutch cable on there had tons of room, so I figured I'd try a F4i cable since it's the same bike except for cosmetics and fuel injection. But the F4I cable is the same length as the first one I had on the bike. so I'm back to square one and a little bit frustrated cuz it shouldn't be that hard to find the right cable. Unless it's supposed to be tight against the ignition. but I dunno. Is your clutch cable really tight when you turn your handlebars to the left? (sorry that's so long)

Hmmmm.... Well the cable on my bike actually rubs against the dash in front of the ignition, then it comes down the right sideunder the frame and straight to the clutch cable mount.
Here's a look at the cabling from the drivers seat, you can see the routing going under the frame.

Wow. hey thanks for the picture. so the cable is going from your clutch lever into that little triangular part of the frame right? I routed mine like that yesterday as it seems to be the best place for it with the least strain on the cable and the least amount of bends. Thanks again.

I had the same problem. I have been realizing that my clutch is starting to go. Since the cable is cheap I tried seeing in the cable was stretched and realized how tight the cable is when the wheel is turned all the way left. I ran the new cable a little differently to give it some extra slack. Unfortunatly the cable does not seem to be my only problem so a clutch will be soon.
