Aside from the accurate posts (don't worry about chicken strips, don't worry about lean angle on the street, etc) I have a couple of questions
1) You touched the peg, or the peg feeler?
2) What type of tires?
3) What size tire?
3) What tire preasure are you running?
If you are running a standard size and a common brand - then - I wonder how long the peg feelers are.
If you are running the wrong size tire or an odd brand (hard to find in a 180 width - but in smaller sizes the carcass shapes are wildly variable) then you might actually have a tire you can't get to the outside of. Asiide from the noticable chicken strips it can create strange handling characteristics... in this case it could be an egg shape, meaning it would fall in easily, but the sharp angle would make the contact patch a bit smaller than a rounder tire, and limit how far you could get out on it.
Again - don't measure your success or skill by lean angle... it's not accurate.
