CBR 600 F4 Sputtering at cruising speeds (carb problem???)
Hi Guys!
Just bought my first "superbike" the other day, a 2000 Honda CBR 600 F4.
I'm having an issue at cruising speeds between 110+...(km/h, about 68mph) when i am cruising in any gear above 3 the bike "sputters" and it wont accelerate more (never mind trying to keep it at that speed)! The only way to increase speed is to gear down and rev it over 7000rpm and even then when the speeds get to 190km/h the bike sputters, even at high RPM.... I'm a new rider but it seems like a dirty carb??? not 100% sure though. I'd like a few ideas before i take it to the garage so the mechanic knows i'm not a dumb@ss and tries to rip me off with something ridiculous!
Idles perfectly. Rev it in neutral no problem. Only gear 3 and over at low rpms does it do this.
Any help will be awesome.
Thanks in advance

I would check the stator and rectifier put a voltmeter on your battery if it reads over 13 probably the rectifier under 13 probably the stator. I was having a similar problem it turned out 18 volts at the battery which was causing my fuel pump 2 miss fire and run iregularly. Once I replaced the rectifier everything was back to normal. I bought my rectifier of the bay $36.00 free delivery.
