carb swap?
The diaphragms in my 99 F4's carbs are not in what I'd consider very good shape. The rubber is so wrinkled that the "lip" won't even fit into/stay in the carb body lip, which means the diaphragms probably won't seal right. Replacement diaphragms cost anywhere from $75 to $130 each depending on retailer, not to mention the other o-rings could be replaced as well. I could see myself spending $500 rebuilding some old used carbs.
So, I'm investigating different options.
I had looked at doing a fuel injection swap from the F4i, but then that needs another $1000 of add-ons to tune it (power commander III or whatever it's called). Not really digging that idea.
Another option was to find out if there are "better" carbs out there that I might run. Were the "older" 600 (or perhaps 1000) carbs "better" in some way? What about doing a total swap to perhaps a pair of higher CC carbs (1 carb = feed 2 cylinders)?
The last option revolves around my plan to do a turbo (just cause I want it). Instead of doing a blow through system (like I would do with the stock f4 carbs), I COULD dig up a single large turbo and make it pull through.
Again, just looking for options.

Sorry your carbs need the work. While I understand your plight, the 99/00 carbs were pretty much top of the Honda line for their day. I can't imagine that swapping to any "older" carb would be a gain. Instead, it would prob be more problematic in fitment & cost vs just rehabbing the orig carbs. Nevertheless, I look forward to your findinds & hearing what you decide to do.
figures.... at least I have time to figure it out...
One problem I'm seeing is that because the "F4" carb only was in production for 99-00, there just are not that many out there. Looking at parts, the later "F3" carb looks very similar and there are quite a few on ebay for cheap. Just not sure if the F3 and F4 carbs are the same.
