Default carb swap

Will I run into any problems swapping the carbs from an 87 to an 88. There seems to be a small amount of difference in some of the internals but pretty close to the same.

I thought the 87/88 carbs were the same, 89/90's are slightly larger though. why swap same size carbs when you could put 89/90's in that have a 2mm larger bore?

I currently have stage 2 jetted carbs that I am trying to getting running correctly (running very rich) and have a set off an 87 for a good price.

How can I tell what year carbs are on the bike currently? It just occurred to me that I assumed they are the orig carbs.

post the model numbers you find on the carbs. should be something like 20 and some other numbers I think. I believe the later hurricanes had VG21's or something similar.

only the 90s had bigger bore carbs, not the 89s.

that was my bad. still not 10000% familiar with the Hurricane's heritage and evolution.

What other mods would i need to do if I switched to the 90 carbs and would it be worth it?

the carbs are marked on the airbox side of the main body where the body and float bowl split. 87-89 are vg20a, 90 is vg26f.
i put 90 model carbs onto my 87 bike and the fit right in. the only other differences are the 90 carbs have two fuel inlets, one for 1&2, another for 3&4. the 87-89 carbs just have one fuel inlet between 2&3. the jetting is a little different also.

I will probably run with what I have and just try and nail down my jetting issue.

Thanks
