RE: cam chain tensioner
The bad CCT is what you are hearing. The valves might be out of adjustment a bit and making some noise, but you are hearing the cam chain slapping around. My bike has 29K and I has a manual CCT installed back in the fall. Mine was so loud that a guy riding an HD soft tail with loud pipes could hear it when he was behind me LOL! No I just hear the engine and the exhaust.

the cam chain tensioner is not going to solve the ticking sound at idle, i put on an aftermarket manualcct thinking it would solve the problem but it didnt. I recently regrinded the valve faces and adjusted thevalve shimsbut haven't finished putting back together .. let u know if it worked to solve the tick.

I have a ? about my bike. My F4 has 23k and it doesnt make a noise while riding or if I rev it. But it makes I guess you would call it a tick sound at idle. Would that be a cct, valves needing to be adjusted, ?

I had a bad CCT, it was obvious that it was bad. I also had a tick in the exact same RPM range. 4-6k RPM. But only when the motor was nice and warm. After changing to an APE cctl, the tick was still there. I then had the valves all adjusted (28,000km on clocks) and the tick STILL remains. Everything on the motor is good, and within spec. I think this motor is just ticky. My F2 has never ticked at all though...
