burning up cam
i have a 2000 cbr 600f4 and was racing my brother. heard a loud rapping noise and the engine shut down.bike fired right back up and rode it home.oil was flowing from a small drain hole under cylinder 1 exhaust pipe.i removed valve cover and found that no oil is getting to cam lobe above #1 cylinder, causing it to heat up and melt the gasket and causing it to leak. i replaced cct and valve cover gasket and shortly after firing bike up it started to leak again and i can tell it is still heating up from not enough oil at top of #1 cylinder only and can hear the ticking getting louder. what is my problem. so i can get riding again. Lack of oil. head gasket? i just dont know were to begin again. any ideas email kevin kgoulart2003@comcast.net

the cam guides have little oil holes and it is probably clogged. you need to disassbly the cam and have the clean and check for straitness since it may have warped. but before you do. do a valve clearance check so incase yo uneed to change a shim you can do it at one time. and if the oil holes are clogged up i would recomed taking off the oil pan gasket and cleaing it and the oil pick up.
