Bike Inspection?
My bike was bought from New Jersey and I live in PA so I need to get it inspected. What worries me however, is that I did the f4i gauge swap and tail swap... Will they fail me for this because its not like it was from the factory?? Does anyone have a list of what the requirements are for passing in PA? Thanks
They'll never know about the gauge & tail swap unless you tell them.
While not PA specific... Typically, you'll need...
gauges - which you have ;-)
headlamp (high & low beam)
tail lamp w/ brake light
front & rear turn signals
proper license plate mount
license plate light
rear view mirror(s)
street exhaust (this can be a bone of contention among some dmv's but you'll prob be fine)
street tires - not slicks/track tires
Good luck.

Err... Inspection? Wuzzat?
Seriously, not sure my bike has ever been inspected. Never found a sticker anywhere. Wait, it had to be inspected at least once since it has a Reconstructed Title.

I do hate inspections though. They solve nothing other than finding a blinker out every once in awhile. Sounds like me donating money to my state for roads that are never fixed.

They are actually pretty strict about it here in Virginia. An officer gave me a warning for speeding, and mentioned that me having all the proper inspections/ paperwork helped a lot in his decision. I've had friends get tickets for not having their inspections as well.
From what you describe tho, sounds like you will be in good shape. As long as all the lights work.

ive never heard of this-
what states do this?
im in MN
anybody know about the rules here?
the dmv gave me conflicting info if i needed 2 mirriors, front signals?
the guy who did my title change was such an idiot- he clipped the wrong id card(i had to show him 2) and added up the fees wrong...
so i didnt get a proper idea of my obligations to the state legally.
PA sounds pretty strict huh? i heard florida is tough too...

As for your state requirements, go to your state's DMV website and look up the requirements for yourself. Some states require 1 mirror, some 2. DMV personnel barely know how to push the button on their computer that'll process the paperwork for them
You'd do better asking a cop (when you're not on your possibly illegal bike) what the rules are.
Absolutely on the *mirrors*...thought I'd listed that...sorry.
Yeah, popo rarely know exact requirements. Seems they're always harassing riders around here for bar-end mirrors instead of post-mount type. Legally though, a bar-end mirror is a rear-view mirror & is legal. Too, they harass riders for "illegal" license plate angle. :\ That's open to more interpretation than anything it seems. :\
One hotspot for riders, the hwy patrol constantly nitpicks bikes. The pkg lot will be full of bikes, they'll pull up & get out, & start "inspecting" bikes & issuing "fix-it" tickets. :\ Many times, they're just plain wrong on supposed infractions. Nevertheless, you have to appear at the dmv to take care of it...or you're in "violation". :\
Seems the local dmv really only actually inspects bikes when, like OP's situation, come from out of state.
