acceleration kit
hello everybody i just bought a 99 honda cbr f4. the guy i bought the bike from said that he had an acceleration kit put on. i wanted to know what is an acceleration kit and what is involved in installing one. thanks ahead of time for your input.
Most of these kits usually involve a new chain and sprockets where the pitch is changed to 520 and the sprockets are geared such that the ratios are lowered.
Installation is relatively simple if you have all the right tools. Sprockets install with simple hand tools (though a torque wrench is highly recommended). The chain requires a cutter (for the old chain), a press, and a rivet tool. Some chain tools do all of these functions. I'm sure some have found a way to use makeshift tools.

Look at the front sprocket, the sive will be stamped on it, if not count the teeth. 15 teeth on the front is what you should have if it has been modded. Also look at the rear usually stamped on it, stock is 45. 3:1 ratio.
Quick accelleration kits let you stand up easier. One of the most affordable mods for the buck.
