2nd gear pops into neutral between 6000-8000 RPM, CBR600F4

Okay so I have since taken the engine out of the bike and taken it apart and here is what I have found.
My shift forks and shift shaft are all out of spec. Also the shift drum seems to have a small chunk out of it. Here are some pictures....
So naturally now I'm in the market to replace all of these parts now. I have priced them out on honda parts direct but they don't ship to Canada... so does anyone know a similar website that does ship to Canada? Also I've been looking on eBay, which is where I got my new gear set from and there is some forks and drums available, pretty limited supply though.
What I'm worried about though is what would have caused this initially. So that when I put this all back together it doesn't just end up happening again. Would it be a problem with shift linkage itself? I really can't have this happen again after all this work...

In photo9 you can easily see how messed up the shift fork is.
Hence why I want to prevent this from happening again....

The gears that were in the transmission are also screwed, the teeth on a few of them are rounded. So basically I'm doing a total transmission overhaul. And I took the head off because the manual said I have to, is that wrong? lol damn if I didn't need too good thing the head gasket doesn't cost too much.
