01 CBR 600F4 died while riding and now won't start
Today while riding, my 2000 CBR 600F4 died while doing roughly 60mph while I was just out cruising and not riding crazy. So I coasted to the side of the road and tried restarting it. It'll crank but won't turn over. At first it would fire up and run for a second or two then die, and eventually just not fire up at all. It has a recent oil change, half a tank of gas, and the temps were not hot. Any ideas as to what's wrong?

Since you mentioned it was an '01, then it is probably and F4i rather than an F4. The difference being that the "i" models are fuel injected, which adds a lot of different possibilities.
That said, if the engine is turning over, then you have eliminated the ignition switch, starter, starter relay, neutral safety switch, and kickstand safety switch as being the problem. So now you're down to either a lack of spark, or lack of fuel. My take is that it would fire, run, then die would seem to eliminate a spark issue. So that takes us to fuel. Possibilities could be fuel pump failure, blocked fuel filter, or fuel injector failure. Another possibility could be a battery or stater that is not providing enough juice to run the fuel pump or other electrical.

Sorry fat fingered it, it's a 2000. I'm leaning towards a fuel pump failure but I'm not the most mechanically inclined. I checked the connection for the fuel pump (green/black wire) and reset that with no change in results. I took a voltmeter to it and it is getting power.

Does it start? Will it stay running as long as starter button held down? Do u hear fuel pump go on when u turn key on? leave key on the on position and wiggle wires on left side of headlight. If u hear fuel pump go on and headlight goes on when wiggling wire around then that Is ur problem. Make sure they are all plugged in good. Mine did what ur is doing and that was my problem. I just made sure everything was plugged n good on left side of headlight. Right between front fairing and the black air intake is a where I found problem. Two wire connectors are in there Hope this is ur problem cause if so it won’t cost u a dime to fix. Wires hav something to do with knock over sensor.

Same issue
Mine did the exact same. First thought it was bad battery because it drained quickly. Changed IT and it happend the next run. Then changed fuel filter and havnt had the issue again. Just did a 1100 km rub with reallyd high speeds and high revs. Nonissues at All.
I have experienced it 4 times. Always agter 20-40 mins of high revs. Tjen had to wait 10 minutes and then i could start IT again without any issues.
Hope its the fuel filter.
