Got a problem with my '95 CBR F3

It was working fine this morning, but, today, i tried to start my bike up after work ended and the choke acted real funny.
When i turned on my choke to full, the bike started up for like 10-20 seconds then stalled.

I coudln't start it on "choke" anymore, so i turned it back to "normal" (the most up position) and the bike started up fine with a bit of throttle. I tried putting it back to choke, but hte bike would just stall and engine would cut off.

Even after i rode it for like 10 minutes, when i tried turning the choke to full again, the engine just dies (rpms drop really fast). The rpms speed up a BIT while im turning on the choke, and then just drop when i apply the choke to ~100%

Also, it doesn't seem putting the choke in the 30-70% position has ANY effect on RPMS

Whats the problem?

 

A friend told me to check the choke cable on the carb bodies... Anyone have a picture or know what im looking for .. hahahha sorry [:'(]

 

If you want to check to see if your choke cable is working, you will have take of the left fairing cover. The choke cable adjuster is located just behind the engine. Move the choke up and down to see if the cable is actually moving. If it's not you can get cable lube from a bike shop, they have a gizmo that can put lube down the cable without having to totally disconnect it. If not, it's no great drama anyway, take it off from the bar and the activator arm and pour some good quality lube down it, until it runs out the othe end. Just make a note on how the cable is routed for putting it back on

If you try to put the choke on with a warmed up motor, It'll splutter & and die, makes the engine run to rich. Chances are that you did not need to use your choke in the 1st place or you used to much of it. And the ambient tempreture that day was enough to keep the motor warm. Carbie problems would be obvious without the choke anyway.

 

OK thanks pacemaker for the quick response. Probably i used too much choke.... I didn't remember in the MSF course that turning on the choke while the bike has been warmed up would kill the engine

Yea thats normal... my bike does the same thing. The only time I can use the choke is when it has been sitting over night for a while. Other than that if it sits for 5 hours or something I have to crack the throttle and it fires right up.
