Default Problem with the choke???

Bike is a 97 F3.

Basically, after 70 miles or so of riding, I had forgot to shut the choke off, so when I had stopped at some lights, I closed the choke, and the bike died and wouldn't restart until I opened the choke about a third of the way.

Is this just down to the cold weather (about 0deg C), or should I be concerned?

Sitting on the bike it will be on the left side under fuel shutoff, it will be a black **** with a white ring clipped into a loop. Will need to turn it clockwise to increase your idle.
