Valve clearance problems

Dirt, your the man. I cant figure out how to take my carbs apart though, i took out those 2 connecting rods but they are still on super tight. The manual doesnt mention anything else either... When i pulled out the rods they were coated in this white crusty stuff... perhaps it just needs some muscle to pry them apart?

Be careful when separating the carburetors from each other. There are precisely machined in between the carburetors. They have to be pulled straight apart from each other, otherwise they'll bind up.
In the photo below you can see the stainless fittings that are in between the carburetors. I sometimes us a flat blade screwdriver in between the carburetor bodies at the top where the vacuum slide housing is. There is only about 2mm gap there where you can gently pry to start them coming apart.
After you get them apart, make sure you clean the openings where the T fittings go in. There is going to be some build up of corrosion that you're going to want to get out before putting it back together. I use a Scotchbrite pad.

Alrighty, So I swapped out the old orings, put the bike back together but now Im having the exact same problem I was trying to solve before I tackled my valves. The bike is very difficult to start, and even with starter fluid, it will only run for a few minutes before bogging down and dying (rich?). The carbs are clean, the valves are in spec, the plugs are new. In the 3 years Ive owned this bike the carbs have never been synced, could this be my problem?
