upgrading suspension???
i was thinking about upgrading the rear shock and front fork on my 96 f3 but not sure what setup is good and at a decent price. I was thinking about getting an F4/F4i rear shock, but would I need to modify anything or will it bolt right on? Also, whats the best way to make the front forks better? I have about 23k miles so would it be too old to change the fluids to make handling better. I was talking to a guy at a local shop and he said that the stock rear, at its hardest setting, still is not very stable/good. Also, he said that with that mileage, the front are probably shot and need to be replaced because changing the fluids will not do much. Is this true? Any suggestions? Thanks!
The guy at your local shop is exactly right. You need new valves, springs, oil and the whole nine yards put to your suspension. A new suspension rebuild shouldnt cost any more than around 300-500 dollars if the dealership or suspension shop does it for you. You wouldnt believe the immediate difference felt after springs and valves set up for your weight.
