Default Transmission? Strange Noise

With the bike idling in neutral it makes a "grinding" noise. When you pull in the clutch the noise is gone. Is this a bearing or something. Any comments appreciated.....

mines a 98 doing the same thing, I just noticed it the other day, I just didn't have time to investigate it. It'll be interesting to see if anyone that knows throws their 2 cents in.

Sounds normal..... just clutch rattle. If the noise goes when clutch engaged ie in gear its fine.

If it's a high-pitched whirring sound, then that's perfectly normal. It's just the bearings whirring around, and its very common on the F3s. Totally fine, ignore it.

It seems to go away when I put it in gear. My mind had zeroed in on that noise and after awhile it was like the only thing I could here. Everything seems to operate fine...not gonna worry about it....Thanks

Yeah, it varies from bike to bike, but its pretty common. Mine does it when I put it into first whith the clutch off while going above 25MPH, like when approaching a light. If I throw it in neutral, it stops completely. Search around the board, you'll see tons of people asking about it, and it's never an issue.
