Default transmission is this normal question

i just bought a 97 f3 (I'm use to much older bikes) so I'm not for sure if this is normal,, safety feature,, or something else ?

with the bike off i leave it in 1st gear so it does not roll off, ok cool, but if i need to push it around the garage or something instead of starting i will just kick it into neutral with the engine off, ok cool , here's the problem i have with the engine off when i put it in neutral and roll it for maybe a 1 foot or less it makes a click sound and jumps back into gear? I'm guessing this maybe normal as a safety feature to prevent it from rolling down a hill ?
if i start the bike and click to neutral it stay in neutral without jumping into gear i can rev it,roll it,what ever i want to do without having to pull the clutch in,
i can leave it in neutral and stop the bike and roll it around without having the clutch pulled in,
but if i click it into gear then try to put it back into neutral it will "click" back into gear unless i hold the clutch in or start it then place it in neutral

if this makes any sense to you please help me out lol

I got to thinking about this question and maybe i can make it easier to answer

on your bike key on - engine off / pull in the clutch click it to first gear let the clutch back out,
now pull in the clutch and put the bike in neutral "do not start the bike" now let back out on the clutch and roll the bike forward a couple feet,,,, does it roll or does it jump into gear to where you have to pull the clutch to make it roll?

It shouldn't roll back into gear on it's own. Don't know what the problem is exactly, but that isn't normal.

hmmm...I wonder if you aren't really in neutral at all but rather are getting a false neutral due to the switch that detects (for the indicator light) being faulty. In first you can roll maybe a foot with it in gear....longer distances as you go higher in the gears.

its in neutral for sure, when the bike is off andI put it in neutral and push it forwardor back wards it will make a click sound then jump into gear,

But ifI start the bike and put it in neutral the shut it back off,I can push it anywheres without it jumping intogear and having to hold the clutch in,,

its just weird that ifI put it in neutralwhile its not running it jumps into gear whenI try to roll it around with the clutch out and when I put it in neutral while the bike is running then shut it offI can roll it anywheres without it jumping into gear
