If your TPS is bad, what is symtom? Is there a way to test it?

hey interactive, I've got 3 or 4 throttle sensors laying around. If you determine that you've got F3 carbs, you can have one if you want. I'll have to double check, but I believe that I don't have any of the keys laying around for it though.

Ok so i found the motor serial code, and while i was at it, i wrote down the frame serial code. i looked at the chart that idodirt posted (thanks alot!!!) and matched my codes up. According to the chart... and the codes on my bike, it says that my motor is from a 96 regular F3, and my frame is a 95 california version F3. Manufacture date on the tag says 3/95. i noticed on a peice of plastic near my muffler it says "this 1996 motorcycle meets a ##DB regulation etc etc". so i dont understand the conflicting years.

SO. i have a 96 F3 motor, with F2 carbs, in a 95 CA F3 frame... lol what a combo. God what did i get myself into by buyin this thing a month ago??!?! hahaha

Alright what im trying to determine now is whether to proceed forward (if possible) with the F2 carbs and find a way around the TPS or if its absolutely necessary and i have to get F3 carbs. Any tips?

There was quite a performance enhancement from the F2 to the F3. Carbs were different as well as changes in the ignition. Its important that the CDI be able to know what the position of the throttle is. Ignition timing is going to be adjusted based on this and other things.

My recommendation would be to get a set of F3 carbs off ebay. Clean them up and use them. Then sell your F2 carbs to help offset the cost of the F3's. I think this is going to give you the best results and most satisfaction in the long run.
