More than once while trying to start a cold engine: it cranks, but won't light (because its cold). Hit the starter button again and nothing...dead. Like its Got no ignition. Turn the key off and back on, it cranks and then engine fires up. when it happens, turning the ignition switch off and then backs on seems to reenergize the starter. New battery. I'm starting with motorcycle in neutral, clutch out. Side stand down.

Any thoughts? Happened after winter hibernation....unheated garage.

 

My guess is corrosion in the ignition switch. If you go to the online manual, in chapter 18 there's a procedure for a replacement.
