Start problem again.. fuel pump?
I recently had a start problem where my bike seemed as though it was flooded, after I cleaned the carbs, jets and everything, it started like a champ and ran fine. Then a day later I drove it about an 1/8th mile and it quit. Now it wont start, it will just crank over but doesn't even pop or anything like it wants to start. It has new gas in it as well. I did take the hose off the fuel pump and tried cranking it over to see if any gas would shoot out but none did... so could the fuel pump be bad?
Yes, it definitely could be the fuel pump. As a test, you could bypass the pump and go directly to the carbs from the tank. If it runs, then get a new pump, they're about $110 new. They go bad fairly regularly. Don't buy used, because its just as old as yours. Gravity feed is fine for idle, but not for riding around.
Maybe try taking off the tank and air filter housing and shooting some starting fluid into the carbs. Also have you adjusted the idle control? I know mine was really tricky....by the way I'm also having a starting problem and trying to figure it out I'll let you know how it goes.good luck!
