Default Start button

Ok so when I go to start my bike, I push the start button and I get nothing. The horn works and the lights are on but I get nothing from the starter. This only happens once in a while. What is my problem?

Can you hear the starter relay switch "click" when you hit the starter button?

Is your neutral light on ? If not, then the sensor or its wire is bad. Pulling in the clutch in that case should help, assuming that its sensor is working..

I always start it in neutral. So that is not the problem unless a sensor is bad and miss reading. Should I have to pull in the clutch because I dont have to.

I've had 2 things cause that problem intermitently. Dirty contacts on the Engine Stop switch, and dirty contacts on the actual Starter switch. It's not too diffucult to take it apart and clean the contacts.
