Stalling when accelerating
Hey guys I am new to the forum. About a year ago I dropped my bike, then I had to go in the army and just came back about 2 months ago. I finally decided to put my bike together, so I order everything that broke off, took apart the bike, determined no engine damage, and put it back together. At first the bike would idle at about 3K rpms and stall out after 5 mins of running. I figured this had something to do with the carbs. I took apart the carb and cleaned out all the jets which were completly covered in green residue from the copper. After doing this I reinstalled the carb and my bike started to idle at about 1200 rpms perfectly for as long as I want. I gave it gas and it stalled. I had realized I forgot to turn out the pilot screw, so i took the carb apart adjusted the pilot screw 1 and 3/4 out from completely tightened position, and reinstalled. This time the bike idles perfectly again but when I give it gas real slow it stalls, when i give it gas quick it begins to sputter then runs fine above 3k rpms. Also blew some fire out the exhuast when I reved it hard. I assumed this was excess fuel being burnt off from the engine being run fresh and nothing to worry about. Only question I have is why is it stalling when I apply acceleration slowly? Is my mixture too lean and should I turn the pilot screw in/out some more or is it something else?
I hope some1 here can help me out, I'd love to get my bike back on the road :-).

you really need some Vacuum gauges to set the carbs up correctly, the main jets are the ones that have the needle dropping into them under the rubber diaphram, as these all wear at diferent rates, Im sure once you get these balenced you'll be somewhere nearer,
and as you said you've turned the screws they'll be a mile out of sync now
