Default Spark Wiring Help Please!?!?

Hey Everyone! New to the forum page, posting wise, but I love learning new things from this site! Any ways, I just picked up a 1996 CBR 600 f3 last week. When I bought it, it did not run, saw that the carbs were not attached, put them on, and it turned over! Sort of.... while it idles fine, when you give a tiny bit of throttle, it dies instantly. You can work your way up to high rpms, but then it back fires like no ones business. I just took the bike close to completely apart to rebuild it, it looks very rough. Someone told me it is back firing because of improper spark plug wiring/wrong firing order...so with this in mind, I took the plugs out and researched the correct wiring. It seems to me that the wiring is completely upside down, according the the diagram below. I have included a picture of what my wiring looks like facing the front of the bike. The red spark spark cables do not reach where they are supposed to go. Does this mean I need to rewire everything? Any help is appriciated! I will upload specific photos upon request Ride On!

Check out this very old thread. It will explain the plug wires and their order.

Also, can't see your pics, but that's because you are new. The mods will get you squared away.

Finally, I would bet good money your carbs are in need of a very serious cleaning. After a bike has sat for any length of time, they nearly always need detailed attention.
Good luck and keep everyone posted.
