Shift lever?

Default Shift lever?

Has any one Had their shift lever come off while you are riding? It happened to me twice now! Now, I can't get the bolt back in without feeling like im strippind the threads out. Please help me!!!

I would look at the threads on the pivot bolt and rear set. If the threads are toast on the rear set, you can retap it, but it would probably be easier to just pick one up off of eBay. If the pivot bolt is stripped, you'll just have to replace it.

It looks like it the backer plate treads that are stripped. Mine was dangling too. The lever never disconnected from the linkage. Does anybody know why that happens so suddenly? Is it the way I shift, or is it that after 11years of riding it just wore out?

Most likely the lubrication on the bolt and shift lever is all gone. People tend to be a little more agressive on the down shift, which is the correct direction for loosening the bolt. If it's properly lubricated with grease and a little locktite on the threads, I don't see how it could come loose. It should be an easy fix though.
