running problem
hi guys, took my carbs of and gave them a clean as they were not running on all four, and number 4 piston was not running at all, put them back on and all four was running, next morning started it up and now it is not running on number two, could this still be crud in the carbs, and when i pull away and give it a lot of throttle it just dies down, ,so i am thinking do i just get another set of carbs or a new set of jets and bowl screws, and give old carbs a complete strip down,if its last one where do i get screws and jets, my bike is a 1995 cbr600 ram air type,
You might get better help in the F3 section, which your bike is. They have alot more traffic there and people know that bike inside and out. I'd start with another carb clean though. Even the slightest bit of crud will clog those jets. Maybe a new filter too.
Carbs need very thorough cleaning, simply doing the jets isn't enough. All those passage ways need loving too. Check the plugs for the #2 cylinder. If its dry, then you know its a fuel problem. If its wet and smells like fuel, could be a bad plug, HT lead, or coil even.

Good catch....
Get a couple of bottles Yamaha carb dip and dip the carbs as a unit. You mix it 1:2 with water. Try to remove the jets, needles etc. and dip those as well. I would recommend separating all the parts for each individual carb in its own tub. The Yamaha carb dip does not damage rubber seals etc. It actually refreshes the rubber in some instances. You can let it sit for a couple days. I have used a dishwasher to clean the carb bodies off after removing from the dip. Be sure to use compressed air to blow out the passages and jets before reassembly. Good luck!
